Example 52 N. Main St.

STICK STYLE
(c.1875-1900)

This style was the result of the reaction to the excesses of the Carpenter or Steamboat Gothic sawn details. Instead of an emphasis on ornament, the honesty of the structural elements became important. Characteristics include angularity, asymmetricality, porches & roofs with steep intersecting gables with flat boards applied over the clapboard imitating interior structural members.
