QUEEN ANNE STYLE
(c.1875-1900)

The style first seen in England & named for their Queen, borrowed elements from Elizabethan, Tudor, Gothic & subsequent styles combined to produce the most picturesque effect. Variety was necessary. Roof shapes[gambrel, gable, hip]; dormers; turrets; oriel, lancet & bay windows with leaded &/or stained glass; shaped shingles; decorative [& multiple] chimneys; balconies; & porches with turned posts & balusters were variously combined to achieve staggering effects.
